Q3 Check In

Image
Yvonne at   QuiltingJetGirl  has a check in for our progress on Q3 and plans for the rest of the year.   Q3 has been a mixture of coping with personal changes and trying to pick things back up again.  Q4 has the potential for more normalcy but also more changes. I think I should have more quilting time in the last quarter. Quilting This year I want to finish quilt tops for  1. Butterfly quilt - no change this quarter.  In November I hope to be able to review what is done and figure out whether I've missed cutting some pieces, cut them incorrectly or what is going on. 2. Labyrinth - Done Q1 3. Rainbow Quilt - I did get some piecing done on this.  The top third is into 3 large blocks.  The remainder is sewn into 4 patches or into 4 X 8 patches.  I think that will get assembled in October. 4. Love Entwined applique (centre block only) - no progress.  I want to prep some pieces so I can work on it in the evenings when I sit down to relax rather than flip from app to app on the ipad.

Q2 Check in

Yvonne at QuiltingJetGirl  has a check in for our progress on Q2 and plans for the rest of the year.   Q2 did not go quite as planned.  In the process of allowing myself time and space to deal with a major life event, some things got set aside.  Some of them will get picked up again but probably not until later in the fall. Quilting This year I want to finish quilt tops for  1. Butterfly quilt - I started to stitch together the blocks I had cut out earlier in the year.  Its been slow progress as there seems to have been some cutting errors - or maybe my piecing on a different machine isn't as accurate as it could be.  Need to check that as well. 2. Labyrinth - Done Q1 3. Rainbow Quilt - Still only some blocks stitched together.  This will probably end up waiting until the fall. 4. Love Entwined applique (centre block only) - no progress. Cherrywood challenge quilt - I didn't get this completed and submitted.  I have most components done and had started to assemble the quilt but

Q1 Check in

Yvonne has a check in for how we are doing with this years goals.  So I thought I'd review and see how I'm coming.... This year I want to finish quilt tops for  1. Butterfly quilt - Cut out additional blocks but haven't done any sewing on this yet. 2. Labyrinth quilt. - I cut this out in January and took it to a retreat.  It took several days of the retreat  but I have the completed top.  It went together really well.   3. Rainbow Triple Four Patch  - It took some playing and designing in EQ8 but I did come up with a layout I liked.  I cut more blocks for each colour and sewed them at the retreat as well.  The top section is almost put together.   Original Layout Idea EQ8 layout.  The black lines are the blocks I've assembled. 4. Love Entwined applique (I'm just doing the centre of this quilt) - haven't touched this one yet this year.. I ordered a Cherrywood kit again this year and so will make a monarch quilt.  -- I have a design and have started to make compo

Goals for 2023

Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl is a hosting an annual planning party again.  2022 There haven't been a lot of changes since my mid-year update.  My focus changed a bit in the second half of the year.  I started the butterfly quilt and have continued making some triple four patch blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge.   I have an opportunity each month to get feedback on some of my digital art work.  The consistent feedback is the extractions (Selections) and some lighting.  In one piece, I done some lighting but the critique showed much more dramatic lighting which I really liked so I'm working on not being quite so timid with some of the lighting. I made good progress this year sorting out Lightroom.  During the Lightroom virtual summit this fall, I watched a session on cleaning up Lightroom.  Something he said triggered an idea and I was able to cleanup all the duplicate photos from my phone that had imported with different names into different folders.  I've signed up fo
